Aurora Retreat is owned and directed by Mikael Kangas and Maya Rao. Since 2005 we have been offering nature inspired holidays and retreats to our area of Lapland. We work together with several other small local companies offering nature and culture based activities. Mikael Kangas was born in the Torne River Valley of Swedish Lapland. After many life adventures, work and traveling the world gathering impulses and inspiration, he has focused his attention back on his home territory. Mikael is a local expert and very capable guide for some of our cross-country skiing, snowshoe, hiking and cycling activities. Maya Rao was born in Toronto, Canada and has lived in Swedish Lapland since 2001. Maya takes care of most of the pre-trip contact with our clients and organises our tailor-made programmes. She is also in charge of our kitchen and is the residing yoga teacher. |
